The IIT Kanpur Foundation & IIT Kanpur Alumni Association are pleased to announce the Rajeev Motwani Mentorship Award to be given at the IITK Golden Jubilee Convention in Santa Clara on July 16th, 2010.
Mentorship is one of the very core ingredients of success. Appropriate trusted guidance for any individual given consciously or unconsciously has defined the career and path of many successful people. Rajeev generously gave his time and energy to students, entrepreneurs and researchers, selflessly. His mentorship was one that was defined by a focus on the well being and success of people around him with practical worldly wisdom. He opened up his knowledge and network to people that enabled them to grow both individually and in groups.
This annual award recognizes those individuals who have demonstrated mentorship to others in a way that is selfless, focused on the mentee and creating value for not just one but several mentees over long periods of time. The impact also benefits the ecosystem as these mentees achieve demonstrable success. Nominees could be entrepreneurs that have started enterprises, or helped with careers in corporations / universities, or with technology, business or social innovation, amongst others.
The process is very straightforward. Anyone can nominate an individual for this award. The first annual award will be bestowed on an IIT Kanpur graduate or faculty member. This will be expanded in upcoming years. The nominating person should provide the following:
1. Name of the mentor.
2. Contact information for the mentor including email and location. Phone number and address if available.
3. How did the mentor impact the nominee’s life and other lives through their mentorship process.
4. A short write-up on why the nominee is considered an amazing and selfless mentor, who would be the right choice for this award.
Last date to submit nominations is Jun 28th, 2010, and the selection team will announce the winners in July. The selection committee is made up of IITK alums who have been mentees and mentors. The vast majority of the members of the team have been personally touched by Rajeev’s generosity and mentorship.
Please email the nomination to motwaniaward@gmail.com.
Thanks
